From Head to Toe: A Combined Chronic Pain and Headache Meeting

Our 2017 Annual Meeting will be a collaborative effort between the Southern Pain and Southern Headache Societies. Join us in New Orleans at the Astor Crowne Plaza September 8 - 10, 2017 where we will examine controversies in chronic pain and headache management affecting healthcare practitioners. Attendees will be provided with practical, exportable solutions that can be immediately implemented in their daily practice.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER William Maixner, DDS, PhD Professor in Anesthesiology, Duke University Director, Center for Translational Pain Medicine This year the conference is pleased to have keynote presenter, William Maixner, DDS, PhD, a world renowned pain research. He has published more than 200 manuscripts and book chapters and has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since 1986. Dr. Maixner’s primary research focus is on biological, environmental, and genetic factors involved in pain transmission and modulation.

CME/CEU Information

CREDITS Continuing Medical Education Credit (CME): Accreditation: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) through the joint providership of Mountain Area Health Education Center, the Southern Pain Society and the Southern Headache Society. The Mountain Area Health Education Center is accredited by the NCMS to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation: The Mountain Area Health Education Center designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Continuing Education Units (CEU): The Mountain Area Health Education Center designates this continuing education activity as meeting the criteria for 1.5 CEUs as established by the National task force on the Continuing Education Unit. You must attend the entire workshop to receive CEUs. Nursing Education Contact Hours (CNE): The Mountain Area Health Education Center’s Department of Nursing Education is an Approved Provider of continuing nursing education by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. APA Psychology Credit: Mountain Area Health Education Center is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor education for psychologists. Mountain Area Health Education Center maintains responsibility for this program and its content. This program will be offered for 15 hours CE.
